Job Description

Keith Borer Consultants is a Forensic Science Consultancy that has been providing forensic consultancy and expert witness services since 1980. 

We are looking for an experienced Digital Forensics Computer Specialist with the following qualities to join our established team of consultants:

  • Experience of digital forensic examinations of computers and related devices
  • Usage of digital forensic software (such as Magnet Forensics Axiom and X-Ways or equivalents)
  • A computer related degree or industry certifications (such as CFCE, EnCe, or GFCE) would be advantageous but not essential if appropriate experience can be demonstrated

To be considered for this role, in addition to having requisite technical knowledge, you will need to be organised and diligent, self-motivated, capable of working independently and have the ability to present complex scientific issues, both orally and in writing, to people with different levels of scientific understanding (lay persons, lawyers, peers etc.).  Experience of working in the forensic arena and attending court as an expert witness would also be advantageous. 

The position is based at our Durham office and can be offered either full or part time.  Travel throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland, and occasionally further afield, is to be expected.

Duties will include:

  • Taking enquiries, devising examination strategies and preparing estimates
  • Coordinating work and managing own caseload
  • Preparing written reports for use in Court proceedings
  • Attending Court and conferences with legal professionals to present and defend conclusions
  • Peer reviewing colleagues’ reports
  • Growing and developing your area, including engaging in marketing activities

The standard working day is 7.5 hours; hours to be agreed between 08:00-17:30.
